Liga Privada No. 9, T52, and H99 boxes in the Ash & Barrel humidor.

If you smoke premium cigars, you probably know the name Liga Privada. It's one of those lines people ask about by name, and it doesn't always stay on shelves for long.

We're proud to say it's here. The Ash & Barrel humidor in Sherman now carries three Liga Privada blends from Drew Estate: the No. 9, the T52, and the H99.

A Little Background

Drew Estate first released Liga Privada in 2007. The name means "private blend" in Spanish, and the line quickly built a loyal following among serious cigar smokers. What sets it apart is its connection to the Connecticut River Valley, where the signature wrapper leaves are grown. The cigars are then handcrafted at Drew Estate's factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Here's a quick guide to what's in our humidor.

Liga Privada No. 9

This is the one that started it all. The No. 9 wears a dark Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, with filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and Honduras. Expect a rich, full-flavored smoke with earthy and coffee notes. If you've never had a Liga, this is a great place to start.

Liga Privada T52

Released in 2009 as the companion to the No. 9, the T52 uses a stalk-cut Habano wrapper grown in the Connecticut River Valley. "Stalk-cut" means the entire plant is harvested and cured on the stalk rather than leaf by leaf. Drew Estate ferments these thick wrapper leaves for 30 to 36 months, longer than any other Liga Privada. The result is a bold smoke with earth, black pepper, and a smooth caramel finish.

Liga Privada H99

The H99 is the newest of the three and has its own story. Its wrapper is a hybrid leaf that blends stalk-cut Habano and Corojo '99, which is where the name comes from. Underneath is a Mexican San Andrés binder with filler from Nicaragua, Honduras, and Pennsylvania. Look for an espresso core balanced by cedar and a touch of sweetness.

Which One Should You Try?

  • New to Liga Privada? Start with the No. 9. It's the classic.
  • Like it bold and earthy? Reach for the T52.
  • Want something different? Try the H99 for a sweeter, more balanced profile.

Not sure? Ask our team. We'll help you pick the right blend based on what you already enjoy.

Pair It With Something Good

A Liga Privada pairs well with a pour from the bar. Full-bodied cigars like these hold up nicely to bourbon, rye, and aged rum. Grab a seat in the lounge, take your time, and enjoy the good stuff the right way.
